Jupiter Power and Denton Municipal Electric Announce Power Purchase Agreement for 100 MW of Battery Storage
Denton, Texas — October 22, 2025 — Jupiter Power LLC (“Jupiter Power”) and Denton Municipal Electric (“DME”) announced a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for 100 megawatts (MW) of battery storage capacity at Jupiter Power’s Tidwell Prairie II project in North Texas. The 10-year contract was approved by Denton City Council this fall.
The Tidwell Prairie II project, a 2-hour duration battery energy storage system, will help strengthen grid reliability, providing flexible capacity during periods of peak demand and supporting DME’s efforts to maintain reliable service for the Denton community.
“Battery storage is a critical part of the modern grid, and we are proud to partner with DME on this project,” said Jack Godshall, Chief Operating Officer of Jupiter Power. “Jupiter Power currently has 2,000 MWh of battery energy storage projects operating in ERCOT, and another 1,600 MWh coming soon, further demonstrating our commitment to delivering the storage resources Texas needs to meet growing demand and ensure reliability.”
“We’re excited for this forward-looking project,” said Tony Puente, DME General Manager. “Battery storage is an important component of our strategy to maintain affordability, reliability, and sustainability for the Denton community.”
Together, DME and Jupiter Power are advancing an energy solution that supports Denton’s long-term needs while contributing to a more resilient Texas grid.
